About the AUTHOR


The Blogger (author) was born and grew up in the southeast of the Netherlands, not far from the birthplace of the famous cartographer Gerardus Mercator, on the other side of the national border. Inspired by this great scientist and artist, he studied Physical Geography (BSc), Cartography (Masters) and Remote Sensing (Postgraduate).  He has over 30 years of experience in Cartography, GIS and IT, both as a lecturer/teacher and software developer. 
 
During (the beginning of) his studies he became fascinated by creating computer programs. In the meantime he has gained programming skills in several computer languages ​​including: Fortran, (Visual) Basic, Pascal/Delphi, C++, Java and NetLogo. 
   
The author suffers from a form of autism (ASD), which was only diagnosed at a late age. He is now "retired" and spends his time writing e-books and taking nature walks, among other things.
