The FIG (Fédération Internationale des Géomètres) or International Federation of Surveyors is the leading international non-governmental organization (NGO) representing the interests of surveyors/geodesists, cartographers and geo-information specialists worldwide. It is a federation of national associations (such as Geo-Informatie Nederland) that promotes cooperation and stimulates the development of the profession, particularly in "Third-World countries".

What the FIG organization does in practice:
  1. Promoting the profession: FIG supports the development of all aspects of surveying, including cadastre, cartography, hydrography, valuation (appraisals), and spatial planning.
  2. Developing standards: They establish international standards and best practices for surveying and geo-information.
  3. International collaboration: FIG works closely with the United Nations (UN), the World Bank, and other international organizations to address global issues such as sustainable land management and urban development.
  4. Knowledge exchange: They organize annual "Working Weeks" and a major FIG Congress every four years. These events bring together experts from around the world to share knowledge about the latest technological and professional developments.
  5. Future-oriented work: FIG focuses on strengthening the role of surveyors in a rapidly changing world (e.g., by using GIS, 3D modeling, and protecting property rights).
The head office is located in Copenhagen (Denmark).
